Direction future trading , using option as stoploss
This thread is to gain your views on a effective stop-loss strategy I am proposing
I primarily trade in the banknifty , which has a average daily volatility of 100 points. (positional trader for 2-5 days max). I take a directional trade based on news and some technical analysis factors.
Problems I am facing
1) Fixed stop-loss of 200 points doesn't work always. Sometimes banknifty goes 200 points and yet changes direction. Also, I aim for 100 points and I am having a stoploss of 200 points , which is a bad risk to reward ratio(RRR).
(100 points SL gets hit very fast)
2)Averaging which is another idea after every 200 points , multiplies my risk even further.
Before I share my strategy, I would like to know your view on the above mentioned points and any possible solutions,

Options For all Seasons
HI!
This thread is Purely Based on Options(NIfty). No future Hedge.
Call and put sell /Buy or both.
Simple pairs based on Intraday trend and monthly complex option Strategies based on market view.
I most of the time go for neutral strategies. Even if i am biased towards bullish or bearish....I start off the trade as a a neutral strategy and then as per market trend i change it to bullish spread or bearish spread.
** Earlier it was not possible for all to open strategies bcoz of heavy brokerage, Now with the Advent of Advance technology and discount brokerage it is possible to open any kind of strategy, monitor online and change strategy accordingly on time.
few types and examples of strategies
Short Straddle : sell both ATM CE/ PE eg. sell 7700 ce - 7700pe
Short Strangle : sell both OTM PE / CE eg. sell 8000ce - 7400 pe
*** For long : Buy both ce /pe
Butterfly Spreads : Buy OTM CE(1 lot)+ Sell ATM CE(2 lot) +Buy ITM CE (1 lot)
ex : (1 lot) Buy 7900 ce + (2lot) Sell 7800 ce + 1 lot Buy 7700 ce
-------------- for Puts Butterfly spreads - use same strategy instead of calls use puts --------
Calender Spreads : straddle
sell near term(current month ATM call /put pair) + Buy Far month ( ATM call /put pair)
ex sell Aug 7800ce/7800pe + Buy Sep 7800ce /7800 pe
Note : sudden Breakout on any direction can cause loss, additional buy sell of call put recquired.
IRON Butterfly Spreads : used with a view of Narrow range of Expiry (Neutral strategy)
Buy OTM Put + Sell Atm Put + Sell Atm Call + Buy OTm Call
( its a Credit strategy as premium spend is less than premium Earned)
** By sell/Buy of pair if u receive more premium then it is credit spread , if u pay more than the premium received its a Debit spread
** I am experienced equity trader...used to trade Naked futures and option successful at first then you all know what happened Next hence started Nifty hedges and option spreads.
** Inspired by Traders like Aw10,Linkon,entire traderji forum and many more legends like Elder Alexander, Al brooks to name a few...

Basic Call Query
I am an absolute noob , so please forgive for asking a silly question .
If i sell a in the money call at say 11:00 am, after 30 minutes will my call be exercised ? Or is there a time limit before being exercised ?
I mean do we follow European or American system ? :confused::confused:

Sharekhan no consent before buying
Dear One I started trading with Sharekhan on 15th July 2014 and it was agreed over calls(not sure if they were recorded) that we will trade for less. For some days the trader traded in 20k and suddenly started to trade in lakhs and crores intra-day. I called him and said it is not good but he said he is doing it only because market is bullish. After a few days of some profit he suddenly took a delivery of 7.5 lakhs of LT and told me that it will zoom on Monday after results and market is good but stock zoomed down I had transferred money(By taking from my brother) with the hope that stock will zoom up. Same repeated with Tatasponge and SBI and he bought SBI for 20 lakhs to which I asked him whats the cue he got to buy this much to which he said he will call later. later on after a week I asked him what cues he got to buy this much for SBI he said he will call later and disconnected the call. I have lost almost 3 lakhs in this way. Now I am in a big depression and dont know what to do. Lt(7.5 lakhs) and tata sponge(3.4 lakhs) are like 20% down and SBI is 7% down. What actions can I take? SBI was at a stage where it was just 40 rs. in loss and we could have come out but he said sir u wait and watch after Raghuram's meet it will surely come up. He never called me before buying LT, TATASPONGE or SBIN.
Now I need advice on when to exit them.

Positional Nifty : Entry is mine, suggest EXIT
I follow a strategy to trade Nifty Positional ! Its always in trade type strategy. At EXIT its always reversal of trade from Long to Short or from Short to Long. Overall profitable but most of the times reversal comes much later after showing Big profit.
Trades are based on EOD charts.
Shall post my enrties and would request guidance on some "exit" point !
Trades are based on something called : "Chandellier Trailing Reversal Stops" !
Its in Metastock that I view charts.
Shall post all trades generated since Jan 2014 ! I am trading only from 28th February. My first trade was a Big success, giving me guts to continue to trade though mostly in indisciplined way! :o :p :(

NF - Learning Swing Trading

I'm starting this thread to track swing trades in NF.
I have been doing NF trades for some time now. Most of them are day trades and moderately successful. I'm a hit and run trader and I think for swing trading you need a different mentality.
I don't have too much of TA background. So don't expect me to explain the trades I take. Also, I request fellow traders not to follow my trades..Please take your own risk. Guidance and advice from seniors and experts in swing trading are very much anticipated.
Method is very simple. If in 30 min TF chart shows HHHL, will go long in 5 min TF HHHL formation. IF in 30 min TF shows LHLL will look for short trade.
I'm just starting by this way...so all the rules are not set. Like exiting the trade but surely will keep SL at buy price once the trade moves in our direction with 50 points and initial SL also will not be more than 50 points.

Predictive Power : Scanner for Future and Option Stocks
A friend has some Amibroker Scanner aptly named : Predictive Power ! At EOD it Scans all Stocks in Futures and Predicts there move for next day.
My friend claims its 70+% accurate. One needs to take position in Stocks List generated just for the day and exit at ~0.9% profit.
Has anyone heard of it or something similar?
Here is a Stock list for tomorrow. In case of Buy List, Buy 0.1% above the level given as a cushion and expect it to rise by minimum 1% above the level mentioned.
