Role of STT in taxation

How far is it true that if you pay STT then you dont have to pay short/long term capital gains tax in income tax?

Can someone please clarify.
I have thousands of transactions in IIFL and ICICI direct (cash, futures, options, currency futures). how can i possibly calculate short/long term tax?

Any help is would be highly appreciated.
