Guidance needed

Hi,
I am newbie can some one guide to a method or book that would introduce me to a system where i can buy stocks for a period of couple of months.

I am not keen in trading on daily or weekly basis specifically based on technical indicators.

My aim to invest, wait for a while and sell them. Not wait many years say couple of months or max 1 year
